    Documentation: Authentic, Accurate & Articulate

                                                           organised by

International Resources for Fairer Trade [IRFT]

Date: January 25, 2008
Venue: Mumbai (Maharashtra)

Introduction

The current emphasis on knowledge management makes it imperative that official records be impeccably documented for easy retrieval and reference. However, a yawning gap exists between practice and precept. Well-intentioned efforts and even successfully implemented programmes often appear ineffectual when documented incompetently. Feedback from several Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) has repeatedly drawn attention to the need for training in documentation.

The one-day training programme ‘Authentic, Accurate and Articulate’ seeks to address this need. It is aimed at strengthening the ability of NGOs to document and present their work to various stakeholders (such as funders, the general public, other NGOs etc.), using innovative approaches.

The purpose of this training programme is to build NGO capacity in effective documentation, thereby adding value to the work of civic organizations that provide pivotal services to society. The workshop would focus on providing the latest professional tools available for effective documentation of the work produced by NGOs. In particular, the programme is aimed at strengthening the capacity of NGOs to articulate and disseminate their messages effectively to a wider audience.
