Response to the Privatisation of water supply

I am a resident of Dr.Charat Singh Colony. We had some water problem recently. We do have water probelm every year during the summer. It actually starts immediately after the monsoon as BMC does some repair or the other.I have noticed that our maid-servant who stays in a slum gets more water than our colony. There is something wrong with the distribution of water in Mumbai, especially in our ward.

What the BMC is doing now is just an experiment. If it suceeds, it will be extended to other areas. So, why oppose it at the beginning itself. I agree that  people should be consulted at every stage.

I do agree that private profit or greed should not prevail over the public good.At the same time, if the BMC is not able to recover the cost of supply and maintenance, it will affact the supply.

My suggestion to you is : keep a watch on the experiment and oppose any anti-people action, not the experiment itself. Let us be rational and reasonable.
