Promoting Peoples Participation In Water Governance DO YOU KNOW Privatization of water supply in K-East ward-Mumbai ??Do you know-that K East Ward has been selected for privatization of water supply in Mumbai? Castalia (French Company) has been appointed as Consultant for 62 weeks under World Bank project to prepare for it and citizens have very little place in it? ??Do you know-Water is the number one problem at present world over? And it has been predicted that by 2025 there will be severe water crisis, and the future wars will be fought over the “Water”? ??Do you know-that water is not to be an economic commodity but a social asset? ??Do you know, that one of the important responsibilities of the government is to ensure safe water supply to the citizens? Even though there are problems regarding water supply in Mumbai especially in the Slums yet BMC has been managing this difficult task. ??Do you know that water privatization is not the solution to our water problem? ??Do you know that previous attempts to privatize water supply in other parts of the world have been utter failure? ??Do you know that privatization of water would increase water rates, could undermine water quality, foster corruption and loss of jobs? ??Do you know that with BMC efforts and co-operation of citizens’ water supply can be managed efficiently? ??Do you know that privatization of water supply can be stopped?
