Regarding Atharva Packers and Movers , Pune , Maharashtra
Theft of jewellery while shifting house

/ tr>
A: Details of the organisation complained about
1.Organisation: Atharva Packers and Movers
2. State: Maharashtra
3. City: Pune
4. Website: http:// atharvapackers.com/
B: Details of complaint
1. Subject: Theft of jewellery while shifting house

2. Period: 2008 - May
3. Details:
This incident took place on May 02, 2009. We hired Atharva Packers and Movers for moving our luggage from Bavdhan to our new house in Mauli Co-op Hsg Society, Mahaganesh Colony, Paud Road, Kothrud, Pune. They came in an hour earlier than we expected them and started packing things in a frenzy. It was difficult for me and my husband to keep a watch on them at a time. After all our luggage was moved into the new house in Kothrud, we realised that two of my gold rings (total approx price Rs 25,000) were missing from my dressing table drawer. After searching the entire house and not finding the jewellery, I contacted the company, but they refuse to co-operate in any way. I approached the police on May 05 , but the police said they can't do anything about it since the rings were not kept in a locked compartment, they cannot pin the blame on anybody. To top it all, the company didn't give us any receipt for the fees they charged us stating that they'll have to levy tax on us for that. I don't know what to do now. Please help me.

4. Additional information: Nil
5. Current status:
Can't see anything happening

6. Solution desired:
I would like the company to return my jewellery or pay me monetary compensation (equivalent to the current market price of gold stolen) for the financial and mental problem

7. Help needed: Nothing that I know of.

C: My Suggestions
1. For the organisation: I think the company should send a responsible executive along with the labourers for moving household items. The company should incur the service tax and not pass it onto the consumer.

2. For the public:  To avoid being fleeced, do not allow the packers/labourers to work on more than one room at a time. Have at least two more of your own family members/friends to supervise.

3. For government: formulate stricter laws to govern such organisations
