Hamara Club was started in July 1989 by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) as a field action project to improve conditions for street children. It is now an independent organization and has broken off the TISS wing to work in conjunction with CHILDLine a telephone helpline which people can call when they see a child in need. Hamara Club has six established centres around Mumbai, with the main one at the Gilder Lane Municipal School Building. Hamara Club works on many aspects of the children to ensure complete development.
