eBay claims a strong response to marketing initiative with Priyanka Chopra

MUMBAI: eCommerce firm eBay India has announced that its charity auction offering bidders an opportunity to spend A day on the sets with Priyanka Chopra has received a good response from the eBay community. 

The highest bidder on the auction will get to spend a day on the sets with the recently crowned eBay Style Diva - Priyanka Chopra. All the proceeds of the auction will be donated to NGO – Nanhi Kali – dedicated to the education of the girl child. 


With over 37 bids and 3600 plus unique visitors, the charity auction with the recently crowned eBay India Style Diva has proved to be popular with international eBay buyers from India, US and Canada. Within five days of the start date of the auction, the auction is at the current bid of Rs. 2,46,000. With Priyanka Chopra personally promising to make the day a memorable one for the winner along with her co-stars, the auction is expected to fetch higher bids on the remaining five days. 

In an online poll through June and July, the two million strong eBay India community chose Priyanka Chopra as the winner and eBay India Style Diva for the year 2006. The other nominees of the contest were Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu. The 45 days long online contest saw participation from across India.


eBay has consistently supported charity fundraising both in India and worldwide. In India, eBay has raised 1.64 crores for NGOs through celebrity and high profile listings as well as direct donations.
