Complaint |
This has been brought up by me before. Stray dogs in the Mulund (Yogi Hills) locality are increasing in number. It is possible to curtail the number of dogs by an exercise in spaying the dogs. However, the last time I wrote about this, the BMC came along, captured the pups (leaving the dogs behind) and left them at different spots along the road). Of 8 pups, two were brought back by their children friends. The purpose is not to evacuate helpless pups and bring them to risk. The sole intent is to get the dogs neutered and returned safely. I spoke to a doctor from IDA who advised me to bring the dogs myself since the BMC would repeat the same action. Now, I am at a loss. The dog will not take kindly to being captured by me and brought to the IDA dispensary (at Chunabhatti, I think) in the back of a car or rickshaw. The dog and its wife make a fond couple and I would hate to see them separated due to my request. |

Your Suggestion for a Solution |
The Animal center Karuna has asked for space to carry out operations like neutering in Mulund. If this space is alloted, they will be able to carry out the operation and render post-operative care. The alternative is for the BMC to honestly return the dogs back to where they belong after the operation instead of transferring the dogs and pups elsewhere. |
