| Brief History : Recent changes in socio-economic and political scenario of the country and specifically of Bihar and Jharkhand, have posed new challenges before the voluntary organizations thus making their role and responsibilities more crucial. In such difficult situation, 2005-2006 marked another successful year in BMKK's efforts to provide access and control over productive resources by rural women-the most vulnerable section of the society. We concentrated on identifying avenues for socio-economic empowerment of women through promotion of SHGs, skill training, providing financial inputs and establishing marketing linkages. In due course, BMKK has also been associated with like-minded VOs and social groups in Bihar and Jharkhand to strengthen voluntary action for the socio-economic development of the society. As its Secretary, I have the pleasure to present this progress report to you for your critical comments and valuable suggestions. I also take this opportunity to acknowledge the valuable contribution of BMKK's team and well wishers without whose support it would have been difficult to move towards the desired mission. (Ms. Anita Gupta) Secretary Bhojpur Mahila Kala Kendra |
