| About us
: SEWAA (Society for Environment, Wildlife Action and Awareness) was founded as a non-profit making, non-political, secular, environment conscious, technology savvy voluntary organisation in response to particular problems relating to the 5 E's (Environment, Education, Energy, Employment and Empowerment). SEWAA's current activities focus is in the region of Uttarakhand Himalayas. As mountains have always played an important role in the history of humankind, they have also been sources of valuable resources like fresh drinking water, forest cover and their products, valuable minerals, biological diversity, recreational/adventure sports and most important as a spiritual destination. But, despite of all these rich natural and human resources, the local community is still deprived of basic needs and is left behind in the developmental race even after the formation of separate hill state in November 2000. |
