Programmes |
The Night Care Centre - an alternative centre started in 1989 in the middle of Kamathipura red light area, provides for approximately 80 children with nourishment, recreation and safe shelter. Education support programmes ensure sustained education of children of sex workers. Non-formal education package provides functional literacy, recreation and reorientation to alternative vocations, health services and supplementary nutrition through play-way techniques. Institutional placement programme places children in boarding homes; social workers follow-up services. Encourages outdoor, residential programmes with parents.
Balwadi is a pre-school programme (for children between 3 and 5 yrs of age). The Banking scheme initiates and encourages savings. These collections are used for education of their wards, housing, marriage or vocational placement. Nutrition and short-stay centre feeds women referred to by doctors and functions from a public hospital at Kamathipura; organises stay of HIV patients and simultaneously networks with NGOs who provide sustained rehabilitation and accommodation.
Anti-trafficking initiative rehabilitates woman and child victims. Publishes and disseminates public awareness material. Orients, equips and trains rural-based NGOs to undertake prevention of trafficking. Conducts public awareness programmes for the same. Community development encourages bio-organic farming, bee keeping and kitchen gardens among \he Kolam tribals of Yewaatmal district (Maharashtra). Runs a residential care institution for children trafficked and closely monitors non-institutionalised ones.

Plans |
To undertake comparative studies within India and across international
boundaries in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka etc. Intends to financially strengthen the research and documentation work, so as to enhance quality of publications.
