Abstract
|
Balgram was started
with five children from slums of Mumbai. India Sponsorship Committee
created SOS Children Village which provided small family like unit where 8
to 10 children live under the care of a foster mother. The philosophy is
that family is the best place for a child to grow as healthy adult. Antar
Bharati Balgram has been a haven providing total care to orphan destitute
and abandoned children. Today Balgram has eight homes with ninety children
and other supports activities like Primary School, Vocational and Training
Centres for rehabilitation of the children and transform them from
destitution to civic-minded citizens.

Bal Asha Ghar, Anand
Niketan provides residential, educational and help care services to the
children who are in distress and need immediate attention. The project was
designed and implemented in co-ordination and support from Prerana, an NGO
that runs night shelter for such children. The project was started with 20
children. Today around 35 children are taken care through the programme.
Under the programme the following activities are conducted. 1. Running
Balwadi, 2. Provide food, shelter, clothing and bedding. 3. Health Care,
4. Counselling service to children and their mothers , 5. Recreational
activities. 6. Vocational training and to develop agriculture activities.
