SHORT TAKES - Women Exemplar award
THE annual CII Women Exemplar awards this year went to Shahana K T in the field of education, N Nanda Devi for her work in the health sector and S Dhanalakshmi for her microenterprises project. The awards, given by the chief minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit, were sponsored by ICICI Bank Ltd. The awards were given at the chamber's annual general meeting.
Institutionalised since 2005, the award promotes women empowerment at the community level by discovering and recognising those who have, against all odds, contributed in the fields of primary education and literacy, health and microfinance, thereby making a significant contribution to the development process in India.
