MONTHLY ACTIVITIES REPORT – FEBRUARY ’07

I. Education and Community Development

February and March are 2 months that go into planning at all levels : first, preparation for the annual exams in March and secondly, short-term and long-term planning for education programs, community development, outreach, etc., details of which we’ll be sharing in our March monthly report.

II. Here’s how we acknowledge the star performers at Sunbeam

Let us share with all of you the 2 letters of acknowledgement – one from our Managing Trustee, Ms. Khurshid Dabdi, to Sujata, our Community Worker cum Child Counselor and the other one from Mr. Vijayendra Cowlagi, Education Manager, Worli Center to Sabhajeet, our secondary section teacher at the same center. Both, Sujata and Sabhajeet, have performed exceptionally well in ’06 – ’07 and needed to know that their efforts have been appreciated by the management.

The reason for sharing these letters is twofold: first, to let all of you (who are Sunbeam well-wishers) know of the culture that is created by Khurshid in our organization and one that needs to be carried forward by all those who have teams reporting to them. The other (and more important) reason being to make all of you aware of the fundamental - yet essential - qualities that each field staff needs to possess in order to fulfill their respective Key Focus Areas.

What will come across clearly via the 2 attachments is that besides the formal, recognized qualifications that are relevant to each post, devotion to one’s work is crucial. A sense of pride and achievement ought to be the driving force while undertaking a specific assignment, whether one is working at the field level or at the office level.

However, I’d like to mention here that our appreciation for the concerned staff does not end with acknowledgement letters alone. We are proud to share with you that 2 members of our staff – Mohini and Shanta – who joined Sunbeam in 1999 as community workers, grew into coordinators and today they head the Community Development and Child Counseling functions – one for Worli and the other for Bandra / Chandanwadi centers. Today, they are at the Functional Heads level in our organization.

Please do go through both the attached files (Att. 2 & 3) – it’ll give you an in-depth idea of what Sunbeam’s mission is all about
