I think it is important for people in India to realise that everyone should be prepared and have crisis intervention strategies in place.
In fact, I wanted to share what we do in a public school here.
We have a crisis intervention safety plan in place - our staff at school has already been through a lockdown drill and three fire drills, and by the end of the academic year will be going through more such drills, all for the sake of safety of students and staff, and to exercise due diligence.
After every such drill, the safety committee will meet to review and dialogue about what went well and what could be improved.
We work with a map of our school and go over the entry and exit procedures very carefully.
Our SO gets a copy of this safety plan at the beginning of each year.
This is such an important issue at school and, God forbid, if a crisis should happen, we at least try to be best prepared.
There is no involvement of police, however it is a group of educators who come together as a committee, brainstorm and come up with this safety plan.
It is a pity that a country with a population of one billion, lacks these basic safety measures.
If not the entire country, at least the five star hotels who charge such exorbitant amounts from their guests should have been better prepared.
Quite embarrassing actually.
What a pity and what a shame!
