Snehalaya, is a Day Care cum sheltered workshop, where we are into Skill Training and Personality Development for the Mentally Challenged persons who are above 18 years of age. This centre is started from July, 2007 at Thane. Our Trust is registered under Bombay Public Trust, 1950, with a vision to  improve the quality of life of all individuals with developmental disabilities. We are also registered and hence are associate members of Parivaar - National Federation of Parents’ Association (For persons with Mental Retardation, Autism, Cerebral Palsy and Multiple Disabilities).  We are also registered with the National Institute of Mental Handicap, Secunderabad.

The purpose of our activity is to keep these persons engaged since these Mentally Challenged Persons are normally in Special Schools till the age of 18 or some schools do allow them to remain till 25 years of their age.  After this normally they are left with nothing to do and are at home doing nothing and wasting whatever skill they had learnt in School or quite possibly may also fall into bad company.

In our centre we get them to do little seasonal jobs like lamps colouring, gift envelopes, rakhies, embroidery making, greeting cards, etc, etc.

We have a stitching machine, to teach students tailoring to certain extent and a computer to train our students into data entry. We have a trained personnel from National Institute of Mental Handicap.

Two of our students participated in the Zonal Special Olympics held on the 16th December, 2007 and both have won the Bronze medals in Shotput and have stood eighth in 100 metres race.
