NATIONAL BURN CENTRE
 
This is a 140 bedded(planned) hospital with commissioned 50 beds exclusively for Burns.It is the largest and only dedicated burn hospital in the country!!It was conceived and built by a Sindhi Refugee,a Plastic Surgeon Dr Manohar Hariram Keswani who saw the need for such a hospital for the poor burn patients.The land of 7 acres was given at a concesssional rate by CIDCO and the rest of the funding came from the Dorabji Tata Trust  and the Niraj Bajaj family with the core donation coming from a sindhi NRI Mrs Lajwanti Chhugani.It has a dedicated team of trustees who work incessantly to maintain very high standards of clinical care.
 
It has 4 operation theatres,9 bedded Intensive Burn Care Unit,Dialysis Unit,Specialised Burn Ambulance with cardiac and operation theatre facilities (where operative procedures can be done ),full fledged pathology lab and radiology and specially trained burn personnel-doctors and nurses
 
A Helipad is in the process of being constructed to transport critically ill burn patients from various parts of the country to this hospital

The aim of this institution is HIGH QUALITY CARE AT AFFORDABLE RATES because they believe that concessional treatment does not mean compromised care!!
 
The objectives are PREVENTION,TREATMENT,TRAINING,REHABILITATION AND RESEARCH
 
Medical personnel come from Mumbai and all over the country for training in Burn ManagementSeminars and Conferences are organized to disseminate the latest knowledge onBurn  Care
 
There is a prevention proramme in place where hosp ges to about 80 schools every year and conducts Burn Prevention and First –Aid talks  for 5th ,6th d 7th standard students.
 
SKIN DONATION AWARENESS PROGRAMME is being launched on12h April in Mumbai by the National Burn Centre
