A no-agenda get-together for Karmayog members was held in Mumbai to celebrate Karmayog’s 4th anniversary on June 27, 2008. This section contains details of our objectives behind holding such an event, the planning behind the get-together and how the event was organised, feedback and ideas from those who attended, as well as our thoughts and analysis about the get-together. It is hoped that this information will enable others to organise similar events, in as effective a manner as possible.

 Why a no-agenda get-together?

Have you ever attended a meeting where you felt out of place or unprepared? These feelings are common among people. One way to help minimize or replace these feelings is to use ice breakers. These are activities and other techniques which break the ice and create a warm ambience.

Some people see fun group activities as a waste of time and an impediment to the learning process where in fact the opposite is true.  When people are comfortable with their surroundings and peers, they are more likely to grasp and accept new ideas. Ice breakers can help to remove tensions and negative feelings.

Ice breaker activities have several important benefits:
    - involve and relax people immediately
    - open the lines of communication
    - help foster a sense of trust
    - promote content flow
    - revive failing energy
    - stimulate creativity
    - encourage people to look at the world in new ways
    - equalize differences among people
