The Role Of NGOs In Making It A Way Of Life In India

Date: Tuesday, 13th February 2007

Time: 09:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m.

Venue: Forbes Marshall Training Hall,

(Kasarwadi, Old Mumbai-Pune Road, Pune)

India is facing a huge challenge with regard to unethical behaviour in virtually all walks of life. If this accelerating erosion of values is not checked, it could lead to anarchy and chaos.

Something needs to be done TODAY to arrest this slide. And action needs to begin at the individual level, rooted in self-awareness and courage of conviction.

NGOs can play a vital role in this process. They can serve as role models and propagate the message of Ethics among all stakeholders they interface with. Many NGOs who are directly involved with formal and non-formal Education can integrate the message of Ethics in their activities.

At this workshop, we will discuss the challenge of Ethical Behaviour with specific reference to NGOs working in today’s India and wanting to give a positive shape to tomorrow’s India.

This workshop will go into some very basic aspects of Ethics and then work towards developing some action plans. It is expected that seriously inclined NGOs will delve into a lot of introspection with focus on “what we can do”, rather than on what somebody else is doing or not doing.

The workshop will be facilitated by Prof. Shashi K. Sharma who is intellectually and emotionally dedicated to the cause of Ethics.
