Jan 04: Mumbai : Meeting of BJP with NGOs, ALMs, Citizens -- reg. BMC election

27 December 2006

Shri Vinay Somani
Convenor
NGO Council
C/o Karmayog
Shreeniwas House, 2nd floor
H. Somani Road, Fort
Mumbai 400 001

Dear Shri Somani,

Sub: Meeting of NGOs and concerned citizens with BJP

As you know, the BMC elections are round the corner. We take pride in the fact that we are a party with a difference. As we all know, the hurdles we face in governing such a large city like Mumbai are very challenging.  We have a huge strain on our infrastructure (electricity, water, roads, garbage, daily influx, etc.) As a party, we would like to present our vision for Mumbai without making any false promises or unachievable claims.
At the outset, one must recognise and compliment the phenomenal work done by the various NGOs, Resident Associations and Citizen Groups towards the improvement of life in our city.
The BJP would like to have a close interaction with NGOs and citizen groups to achieve better results, and since the NGO Council and Karmayog provide an important networking platform of NGOs and civil society groups, we therefore request you to organise a meeting of NGOs and other civil society groups and concerned citizens with some of our party members.

The purpose of the dialogue would be two-fold:
  • to receive suggestions for our manifesto
  • to bring to light areas where we feel we have generally performed and areas wherein we have had difficulty in performing owing to the various hurdles one faces in governance.  We would also like to present our action plan for the future

    Date:           Thursday, 4th January, 2007
    Venue:        BJP Maharashtra State Office
                        C.D.O, Barrack No. 1, Opp. L.I.C. Bldg.

                        Mumbai 400021
    Time:           5 p.m.

We hope to work in co-operation with you to achieve better results & make a visible difference for our city and look forward to good participation as we would like to introduce your suggestions in our manifesto (not mere promises).

    Sincerely,
