Jan 30 - Feb 3: Mumbai : Workshop on Theme Centered Interaction (TCI)

It is my pleasure to announce the next workshop on Theme Centered Interaction (TCI) titled:

TCI in My Daily Life

Chief Facilitator: Prof. Hermann Eppler

Daily life is different for every human being, there are many aspects to it. Personal and professional questions matter. Family, faith, community, society, politics may be more or less important. Whether you are a businessman or a house wife, a teacher or a politician, old or young, you are deciding every day anew how to live your life. Our decision space may be smaller or bigger, depending on  our situation - but within that decision space, we make our choices and lead ourselves in a certain manner. The Theme Centered Interaction (TCI) helps us lead ourselves, helps us to distinguish between important and less important issues. In this workshop, we will experience together, how TCI can  be of help in our daily life.

This workshop like those we have had earlier at the Institute,  is part of a series of workshops on pedagogy, that   may be very useful for all those involved in classroom teaching, training or any kind of participatory work in groups. Theme centered Interaction is a concept of running groups, not just a bag of techniques, rather a distinct method based on the idea of learning as an active, creative and discovering activity. "Living Learning" as it is called, emphasizes the attentive awareness of oneself and others in personal and in professional contexts; the strengthening of interdependence and autonomy in relationships; imparting knowledge in a lively way, involving participants in this process; promoting cooperation rather than rivalry and integrating the demands of the working task with a regard for the individual and for the interpersonal relationships. Apart from personal development , participants can expect to understand structures and processes for steering groups to achieve a dynamic balance between the varying needs of the individual, the purposive interaction in the  group as a whole and the realization of the work/task all within the environment from its narrowest to its broadest context.

The workshop dates are Jan 30 to Feb3, 2007 (9.30am to 6.00pm).Lunch, tea and snacks will be served to participants on all days. The fees for the workshop will be Rs. 1000. We will take a maximum of 15 participants this time. Interested  persons  to register by Jan 25 by paying the workshop fees in advance  to Ms Bhargavi of the EMS ( Centre for Life Long Education ).This workshop emphasizes and relies on group processes therefore participants are required to be punctual and fully present in the workshop during the entire course of it, without outside distractions.
