Oct 07 : Mumbai : Seminar on Rainwater Harvesting RAINWATER HARVESTING SEMINAR The current water supply situation in Mumbai is alarming. Every locality in the city faces severe water shortage problems and many localities are dependent on water tankers, especially during the long summer months. It has also been observed that a number of wells have gone dry or those which had sweet water initially have turned saline within a few years of constant use. Harvesting rainwater is a proven method which can help meet increasing water demands, recharge old wells and improve the environment. Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) has been successfully implemented across Mumbai by a number of private buildings and factory complexes. Infact, the Municipal Corporation for Greater Mumbai has made RWH compulsory for all new buildings. CERE has helped over 175 households in five buildings in Malcolm Baug (Jogeshwari) to reap the benefits of RWH. The Centre for Environmental Research and Education (CERE), a Mumbai-based non-profit organization has organized a half-day seminar on Rainwater Harvesting on 7th OCTOBER 2006 at MALCOLM BAUG HALL (Jogeshwari) & 8th OCTOBER 2006 at TATA COLONY SCHOOL HALL (Tardeo)
