Multi stakeholder workshop on e-waste management -

You may be aware that e-Waste is an emerging and critical waste issue in India, with cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore contributing largely to the quantum of waste being generated. The constituents of e-waste also have adverse impacts on human health and environment unless these wastes are properly collected, stored, treated and disposed of. Mumbai being a commercial capital of India with large number of corporate offices is one of the largest consumers of electronic goods. The rapid changes in technology, high obsolescence rate of the electronic goods as also the imports of various electronic goods are some of the causes responsible for e-Waste generation and pose serious challenges regarding the management of such wastes.

In order to understand and address various issues on e-Waste management, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board has jointly organised a workshop with United Nations Environment Program and Toxics Link, an NGO, on 28th of November,2006 at the Conference Room, 4th Floor, Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishtan, Nariman Point, Mumbai. The workshop is intended to facilitate discussions and information exchange regarding comprehensive e-waste management practises and perspectives involving various stakeholders.

We invite you for this workshop as a partner in this joint effort and contribute in its deliberations. Please find attached the tentative agenda for the workshop. Kindly confirm your participation to us immediately.
