Findstone.com - Marlet Place for Building Stones
Please read the programme written out briefly under, suggesting a theme for
a 2 hrs session with school and college children of Mumbai; A Flier for the
event on Sunday 22nd June has been attached to this mail with photographs
and details;

Background

Music and singing is known to be a very effective tool for children in
bettering their expression and self-confidence. In this context, we had the
god-sent gift of a volunteer, a reputed singer and musician from Australia,
Michael Turner and his team, who worked with children in many schools in the
tribal Thane region. In the process of his three months' work in LSF, he
wrote songs in English and composed tunes that would inspire children
towards feeling love, peace, respect and gratitude and so forth. These songs
were taught during his tenure in the LSF project in 2006, to hundreds of
children in schools, as a way to encourage self-expression and easy English
learning.
In April 2006, some of the tribal/rural children from the region were
selected and their singing was recorded in a professional studio in Mumbai,
along with Michael's voice in English and another volunteer, singer-song
writer Manish Dhiman in Hindi. The result was the turn-out of 17
professional soundtracks which were collectively called "Light of Love –
Inspiring songs from children of the forest". The recording costs at two
different periods of time were privately sponsored by supporters of Learning
Space.

The Musical Event in Mumbai

Michael Turner is coming to India on the 6th June 08, and will be here for a
whole month to once again connect with the musical expression that he
started with the children of Thane district. Apart from this, he and the
Learning Space Foundation is very keen on holding events in Mumbai inviting
school and college children to widen the same expression that is suffused
with living values like universal love, peace, respect and unity. He will be
holding a session with children of Mumbai titled "Soul Connect with Your
Singing Heart " where he will demonstrate the value of singing together with
ONE voice, using some of the songs from his work "Michael Turner & the
Peaceful Stars" recently released in Australia, and the "Light of Love"
album; the session will be of 2 ½ hrs duration and will be held in the late
afternoon preferably on a Thursday.
An introductory song & dance performance will be rendered by some children
of villages under the LSF teaching programs.
Alongside the music album made by him and his group of village children will
be launched at the same event, to generate awareness among urban children
and connect them to the Learning Space program in the villages.
