I think it is a GREAT idea.

Certainly workable where TV has not completely destroyed the reading habit.

In Muscat, where I stay, we actively encourage our employees to donate books to our office library. We also request those returning to India to donate rather than carry home books.

The donation response is good but the reading response is poor. Mainly because of visual entertainment options.

Storing and caring for books however is a great challenge especially in cities where space cost or rentals are high. 

The satsfying part of the library /donation work is when we facilitate reading material for orphanages, old age homes not equipped with TV, and for the visiting parents of expats who stay here for a few months.
 
Yes, we would like to be enrolled as a possible recipient of such donated books.
