Farmer's training

Since its founding, SPIC has been organizing educational and welfare programs for farmers across India

-    Information on current farming practices.

-    Technical assistance on seed and soil management, soil testing, and optimal use of fertilizers.

-    Monthly motivational training programs for young farmers conducted by experts.


 Farm journals

The Tamil bi-monthly, SPIC Pannai Cheithi Malar, is among India's first magazines for the agrarian grass roots. Its objective: to provide farmers the latest information on agricultural practices, with a special focus on high income yielding crops.

Activities promoted by the magazine:


-    Interface workshops to bring together experts, entrepreneurs and farmers; many farmers are said to have taken up market-oriented agriculture after attending these workshops.

-    Annual seminar-cum-exhibition to showcase the latest technologies and practices

-    Integrated farming that combines activities such as animal husbandry and poultry farming with farming.


Alternative energy

The SPIC Science Foundation is developing non-conventional energy sources for transport vehicles to replace fast depleting conventional fuels.

The Foundation is a key partner in the Government of India funded project for the development of 5 kW and 25 kW decentralized power packs.
