Karmayog 2008 CSR Rating: 2/5 CSR activities: In December 2005, APPM introduced a Medical Mobile Van Service with an objective of providing relatively quick medical aid to the people living in the interior parts of East Godavari, APPM has also shown its concern for animals by donating 40 GI Tubular Trevises worth Rs. 2 lakhs to various Veterinary hospitals. Motivating the community to participate in various Aids Awareness Programmes APPM has been making constant efforts to increase awareness among people about HIV and AIDS through rallies being carried out by school children and its employees in various near by towns and is helping remove various misconceptions relating to HIV and AIDS. Caring for children through various initiatives in the education arena- APPM has established two English Medium High Schools for its employee’s children as well as for the local kids under the guidance of the APPM Educational and Cultural Society. Every year it contributes Rs. 8 lakhs to ensure smooth functioning of these schools. Last year, a fund of Rs 2 lakhs was created through which various books and uniforms were gifted to the children belonging to the economically weaker sections of the society. Beside financial support, APPM’s employees have been providing guidance to more than 250 students from various graduate, post-graduate & professional colleges and universities. Supporting cultural, religious and sports events- Being located on the banks of the river Godavari and in the town of Rendering various services to the needy- APPM has been at the forefront of rendering financial and non-financial assistance whenever the need arises. In the past, it had helped in constructing a shed at a local leprosy centre, donating a van to the Ramakrishna Mission for rendering mobile medical services, supplying utensils, clothes and wet grinder to Sri Kandukuri Veersalingam State Home, donating money to the Chief Minister Relief Fund for Tsunami victims, donating funds for the rehabilitation of poor children with heart diseases and supplying food packets, clothes and utensils to flood and fire victims in the city of Rajahmundry Forestry in Socio-economic upliftment The ongoing wasteland development project with integrated Tribal development agency under Indira kranti patham in tribal areas with clonal pulpwood plantations and District water management agency, East Godavari District continued during 2007 also. This would not only generate the pulpwood to mills but will also help in meeting the local needs of farmers by means of generating employment and upliftment of socio-economic conditions of the villagers and tribal communities. Farm forestry in coastal wastelands of Krishna District has brought about 2200 acres under plantation for the benefit of local inhabitants and protection of coastal environment against natural disasters, besides improving the soil fertility status of degraded, waste lands and checking soil erosion. The industries presence in greening waste lands for raw material resources have created a strong network comprising tribal beneficiaries, self help groups, village organizations etc. to fight against poverty and natural disasters.
