CSR activities: Abhishek Industries Ltd. is a flagship company of Trident India.
Abhishek Industries is committed to grow economically and add prosperity to environment it operates into. While doing so, it ensures fulfillment of its social commitments and protection of environment – the critical factors for its very existence. The Company ensures optimization of resources through innovative systems and practices, which contribute towards the goal of sustainable development. The Company operates in business environment characterized by increasing globalization, intensifying competition and complex technologies. The Company responses to these realities through a comprehensive system environment protection and fulfilling its other social responsibilities.
Social responsibilities
Abhishek Industries has a value system that emphasizes a sense of responsibility to the society. This is one of the key factors that has ensured Company’s continued success.
Some of the CSR initiatives taken by the Company are as follows:
- Active participation in development of Sacred Heart Convent School at Barnala.
- Creation of Centre for Excellence with state of art training facilities where students from various parts of State undergo special courses.
- Rural health and outreach programme where Company organizes a free medical healthcare camp and outreach program to address issues like general health care, child health problems, gynecological problems and other related medical issues.
- Setting up a Multi-specialty hospital to cater to the health care needs of residents in and around Barnala.
- Provision of residential colonies for operatives at plant sites.
- Coverage of all employees under social security scheme.
- Free stitching classes for the wives of the employees.
- Participation in village adoption programme which aims to raise cotton productivity and quality in Punjab.
- Regular contributions to provide sponsorships to aspiring professionals from within the industry.
- Organizing blood donation camps on a regular basis.
- Providing interest-free loans to employees to start their own business.
- Abhishek Industries Limited funds the rural economy on large scale and it out-sources 20 percent of its raw materials from the adjacent areas.
- Have plans for commissioning recreational facilities like shopping malls, sports complex and a theatre in Barnala.
- Extending help to schools for the deaf/ dumb in Barnala.
- Expanding capacities to provide employment to more than 20,000 families.
Management initiatives
- The Company has undertaken various initiatives in above direction which include
- A focused cell for environment management
- Adoption of Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) policy
- Installation of state of the art Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP)
- First agro based paper manufacturer in India to adopt
- Elemental Chlorine Free (ECF) technology.
- Installation of state of the art ESPs at the chimneys of power generating units.
- Installation of environment friendly Chemical recovery boiler
- Eco friendly paper unit, which saves 5,000 trees per day as compared to 100% wood pulp based units.
- Compliance with CREP compliance norms ahead of its mandatory requirement in 2009
- Adoption of biological system for liquid waste treatment
- Reuse of treated water for manufacturing, gardening and other maintenance purposes
- Proactive investment in a pioneering farm forestry initiative that extends across 100 acres within the plant premises where plantation of trees of different categories is done.
- Installation of Rain water harvesting pits at the plant sites
- Procurement of energy efficient machines
- Continuous up-gradation of technology
