CSR activities:

Community Welfare

·        AIL has a long tradition of being involved with the development of the communities we operate in. As a socially responsible Group, we support a host of charitable trusts, NGOs, government institutes, hospitals, research institutes and schools

by way of generous donations. We have also always donated wholeheartedly towards disaster relief activities. During the last five years, our Company has contributed approximately Rs 5 crores towards various relief funds, including earthquake relief, flood relief and Tsunami relief funds. We have adopted a village in Gujarat inhabited by Other Backward Castes (OBCs) and another village in Kutch for rehabilitating earthquake affected people. Our aim is to extend our support to a variety of recipients so that as many as possible can benefit from our financial contributions.

At AIL, Vapi, we believe in actively co-operating with neighbouring industries to address common concerns and solvebusiness-related problems. Our Director, Mr. Kirit Mehta, is the President of the Vapi Industries Association. He leads the association and takes the necessary initiative for getting basic common facilities for the members. He also handles the task of making representations to various bodies for problems related to roads, water supply, electricity, pollution control, etc. that obstruct the smooth conducting of business. Mr. Mehta is well respected for his contributions towards the development of the

Chemical industries in Vapi.

 

SHE Initiatives for the year 2005-2006

  • Three new flame-proof safety torches procured.
  • Non-sparking tools procured.
  • Serial numbers provided to all welding machines.
  • HAZOP study and risk assessment being carried out.
  • Recommonded for ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 certification.
  • Specific focus on conservation and reduction in consumption of
  • primary raw materials, energy and water.
  • Scrubber system for NOx & HCl modified for better efficiency.
  • Online Benzene sensor installed in MCB Plant.
  • Implemented the new hot work permit system. Started providing
  • fire extinguisher from safety dept. to avoid misuse of plant fire extinguishers.
  • Air moisture removal filter installed in fresh air line in chlorineshed.
  • Implemented the safety work permit system for CNA and
  • Methanol tanker unloading.
  • Acid spillage transfer arrangement made during emergency in Acid plant.
  • Emergency training imparted for dealing with cyclones.
  • Special training sessions organized on skin diseases, AIDS,
  • First Aid and M.S.D.S. by inviting external experts.
  • Leaflets in Hindi & Gujarati language for emergency preparedness distributed to all employees.
  • Formulated fire-fighting and rescue squad and trained them to be ready for tackling any emergency.
  • Hepatitis 'B' injection given to all employees and family members.
  • Pre-employment medical check-up & yearly medical check-up of existing employees carried out.
  • Eye test of all DMS employees done. Power with photo
  • chromic/without photo chromic lens provided to all DMS employees.
  • Conferring of the Best Housekeeping Award started.
  • World Environment Day celebrated on 5th June. GPCB members were present on this occasion.
