At this, officials of HUDA, PWD and the municipal committee said washing of vehicles of ten caused accumulation of water on the roads and resulted in potholes. The Gurgaon DM said that from now on, people found washing their vehicles on the road would be prosecuted in the court of law for damaging public property . "The roads are public property and the people have no right to damage them. People have no right to wash their vehicles on roads. It results not only in wastage of precious water, the accu mulation also damages the roads. Those found guilty of washing cars on road would be booked under the Prevention of Damage to Prop erty Act," the DM said. The DM directed officials to ask their field staff to take photographs of people wash ing their vehicles on the roads and book them under the Act. Gupta also asked the officials to get all the city roads repaired in 10 days. URL: http://epaper.hindustantimes.com/artMailDisp.aspx?article=04_06_2008_012_007&typ=0&pub=264 |
