Glamour quotient in BMC polls

In Mumbai's celebrity suburb Juhu, residents have broken tradition and have agreed on fielding a single candidate for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.

The residents of Ward number 63 came together to field a consensus candidate, Adolph D'Souza, for the elections and the event could have been easily mistaken for a film party with stars in full attendance.

It’s only when they sang Bharat bhagya vidhataa that one realised that they all had come together for a greater purpose.

“This is happening for the first time and it is an experiment in democracy. We will ensure accountability and transparency in the system,” says actor Shabana Azmi.

For those of you who wonder if the star-studded campaign would actually benefit the aam aadmi, then the man of the moment, Adolph D'Souza, made his plans clear.

“I'll have a team of 37 ward representatives who come from all walks of life. They will take our campaign forward and I'll have the support of over 40,000 people,” explains D'Souza.

The writing on the wall is for all to see. So here's to the empowered and proactive people of Juhu.
