BMC demolishes more shanties on P’Dmello Road

Drive a part of Rs 752-crore project of road widening

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) continued its drive at the P’Dmello Road as a number of illegal shanties in the B Ward were demolished on Wednesday.

“These demolitions were carried out by S Y Gadkari, ward officer of B Ward. At least 36 shanties and 7 commercial stalls were demolished today as a part of the drive. This demolition was carried out by 39 people, including staff and workers. Five JCBs and 8 dumpers were used,” said S Jadhav, deputy public relation officer of the BMC.

The demolition drive which was initiated on May 18, is a part of the Rs 752-crore project of widening the arterial roads by the Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project (MUIP).
