Dear All,

A major breach of the Kosi river has inundated villages in the Northern districts of Bihar. The affected areas were not traditionally flood-prone. More than 1.4 million people in 13 districts of Bihar have been reported as affected by the floods. There are 2 human casualties. The state government is engaged in rescue and relief operations and claims to have adequate food. However, the lack of adequate drinking water and the unhygienic conditions in the camps are posing a high health risk. Please refer to the consolidated situation report at http://www.solutionexchange-un.net.in/drm/resource/res27080801.pdf.

We will continue to share with you the latest report on this.

Regards
