Wipr At present we have made requests within Wipro for employees to contribute in kind and money. We plan to partner with Art of Living and some other NGOs to help with distribution during the relief phase.
As a practice Wipro matches the financial contribution and the resources required to use this money well in rehabilitation efforts. We have a department, Wipro Cares that focuses on these efforts.

From past experience (Gujarat earthquake, Orissa cyclone and the Tsunami) we have realized that the rehabilitation needs are more critical (after the immediate relief phase is considered complete).

We plan to understand the longterm impact in specific areas and participate in rehabilitation for the people affected. To illustrate in the case of Tsunami also we have been working closely with 2 villages to resolve livelihood, schooling and housing needs. Also we have been involved in mainstreaming a community that has been begging for generations and hence were outside the radar of any relief or rehab work post the tsunami. Currently we are helping build a residential school and farm for the community with the help of an NGO called Vanavil.

We would be obliged if Karmayog could help identify an organization and specific areas (a village or cluster of villages) where we could participate in a significant manner.

Best Regards,
Prakash.
