Enter Free Geek, with an elegant solution. It takes unwanted computer systems from local residents and recycles the stuff that's beyond repair; everything is fixed up using volunteer labor and in exchange for that work, volunteers get those rehabbed computers -- for free. "We basically aim those two problems at each other," says the volunteer who calls himself "Reverend Phil". "We use the landfill to bridge the gap."
