Sub: URGENT APPEAL FOR MEDICINE AND DOCTOR VOLUNTEER SUPPORT
Dear Madam/Sir,
Greetings from ARM, Baliapal. I take this opportunity to make an urgent appeal for critical health assistance towards our resource poor rural Primary Health Centre and its flood victim population cum patients. That Alternative for Rural Movement is a state level voluntary organization working for the education, health, empowerment and economic wellbeing of the deprived remote rural sections of Balasore district in north Orissa with emphasis on women and children mainstreaming activities. It (ARM) has recently been handed over with one defunct Governmental Primary Health center (PHC) located at one remote paschimbad village under the Public Private Community Partnership scheme for reformed and efficient functioning of the state’s sick health system. The PHC caters to the health awareness and health treatment needs of 30 villages in 4 gram panchayats (Village clusters) with 2 Sub Centres under its jurisdiction covering a population of 27,000 in its feeder area. The turnout of patients has suddenly gone up to 1850 / month against previous Governmental record of 620 patients per month due to assured facilities, regularity of hospital staff and peoples faith in certainty of voluntary efforts. The Orissa state government in its transfer memorandum has made provision only for staff salary of the PHC and some fund for annual infrastructure development. ARM as a grassroot voluntary organization feels constrained to meet the rising medicine cost of the hospital as the visiting poor patients solely depend on hospital medicines. We are burdened to bear the medicine cost of patients like malaria, diarrhoea, dysentery, skin diseases, cough & cold, anemia, T.B., Leprosy, STD, RTI, HIV and an expert gynecologist doctor for mother and child health related patients. Therefore generous assistance in form of life saving medicines or a doctor volunteer is prayed from your esteemed agencies/individual capacity to serve the great cause of rural health as well as mother and child health requirements of this rural Primary Health Centre. Your benign response for one or both of the above kind of assistance will be highly appreciated. Besides your own support, your efforts in wide circulation and mobilization of health assistance from other sources for our sacred appeal will be of immense benefit to our noble mission.
Awaiting your humanitarian support and deep cooperation .
With regards,
Yours Sincerely
Mr. Rajendra Kumar Rana
