You can earn Rs2 lakh without too much sweat. All you have to do is report to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) about public servants with “extra lavish” lifestyles.
On November 4, during the Vigilance Awareness Week from November 1 to November 8, the state government’s home department had announced rewards of up to Rs2 lakh for those helping the ACB crack down on corruption. While the ACB has been receiving calls from people regularly, providing it information about corrupt government official, officers claim the information is always “vague”. “We need specific information to investigate a case,” additional superintendent of police Sanjay Parande said. The bureau gets plenty of anonymous calls with “information” about public servants who have obtained wealth through corrupt practices. However, none of the callers provides specific information, Parande said. “We need details. It could be about the government employee having a bungalow in Lonavla, or having luxury cars. Even information that his or her children throw parties every other night can also be quite helpful,” he said. Parande said not every wealthy public servant is corrupt. “A few may have inherited property, a few may many family members working.” The informer will get the reward only after a charge sheet is filed in the case after |
