An assistant commissioner of Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) Paritosh Kumar and three clerks Vijay Ramarao, Surendra Datta and Mohanto were arrested by the Anti-Corruption wing of the CBI on Friday while accepting a bribe of Rs 3 lakh from a builder. The EPF officials had allegedly summoned the builder along with documents about his employees for the past five years. The EPF officials after going through the documents told the builder that there were several discrepancies and would attract a penalty of Rs 50 lakh. The builder was then allegedly offered a settlement if he paid a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. The amount was subsequently negotiated to Rs 3 lakh.
