Local Area Citizen Group

The BMC and NGO Council have proposed the development of The Local Area
Citizen Group (LACG), based on the learnings of the ALM scheme that lacked
institutionalisation, and from the Dattak Vasti Yojana, a community-led
cleanliness programme in the slums.

The LACG can be considered to be an expanded ALM. LACGs may be involved in
planning, implementation, awareness creation and monitoring of various civic
issues such as beautification, solid waste management, environment
protection, traffic, roads, hawkers, encroachment, stray dogs and even
disaster management.
