For What: To arrest the spread Of, STI, HIV /AIDS among truckers and associated high risk population, so as to reduce the mortality, morbidity and the impact of STI/HIV/AIDS at the halt point, in Gwalior.
 
How: 1. BEHAVIOR CHANGE AND COMMUNICATION: Transferring skills and techniques of BCC from ORW to PE and Outlet Operators, these skills will include counseling through IPC tools. And also to promote more of the counseling done by PE’s where ORW do more of monitoring than doing BCC themselves. 2. STI MANAGEMENT: Reduce the threat of STI among truck drivers through establishing a referral system that would ensure early identification of STI among key population and referring them to Khushi Clinic to seek proper medical counseling and treatment. 3. CONDOM PROMOTIONS: 1- To increase the usage of condom among truckers and drivers through identification of new peer educators and outlets that would help increase the dissemination of health seeking messages. 2- Increase the number of outlets from 30 to 40 to make the availability of condoms in GTN more widespread. 3- Identify and train 2 condom stockists. 4. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Involving CBO directly with the project activities, through forming sub-groups under it. These groups will look after each component of the project. Each committee will be responsible to monitor the activities component wise and other activities like planning, strategy for implementation, and suggestion for improvement, fund generation etc. Project Design and Implementation Plan BEHAVIOR CHANGE AND COMMUNICATION: Strategies:  BCC using IPC tools by outreach workers and peer educators: IPC moves beyond massages, and through face-to-face interaction, dialogue and critical reflection, helps key population to identify barriers of STI/HIV risks reduction, to analyze, plan ways to address them. The various IPC techniques that would be used are: • Tableaux • KP Figureheads/Advisors • Power Game • Margolis Wheel • Why is it so? • HIV/STI services map • KP Drawings  Skill improvement of peer educators in IPC (conduct BCC session, SMC, referral support in event) Activities: • 1 to Group counseling by ORW, Peer Educators an Outlet Operators through use of IPC (Intra Personal Communication) tools. • 1 to 1 counseling • BCC Training for Outlet Operators • BCC Training for Peer Educators • Organizing Events: Theatre & Street Shows, Health Camps, Mobile Tents, Satellite Clinic, Infotainment Program, Sports Events, Mobile Exhibition, Video Shows, Rally on AIDS Day, Organize Truckers Day STI MANAGEMENT: Strategies  Providing STI treatment and other health services through Static Clinic  Health services through satellite clinic  Health services through mobile tent  Health services through health camps  Health services and information through DIC  Health services through doctor on call  Health services through multi diagnostic health camps Activities: • Client Referral, Treatment, and Consultation to Clinic • Referral to G.R. Medical College (Medical College-Gwalior) for VCTC CONDOM PROMOTIONS: Strategies  Identify and train condom stockiest from the best outlets.  Stockist will have direct contact with other outlets and supply condoms regularly for Social Marketing.  Establish linkage with condom social marketing agencies (such as DKT, PSI) for procurement and smooth running of outlet.  All field staff, medical team at clinic and peers will be encouraged for social marketing  Free Condom Distribution Activities: • Establishing Condom Stockist • SMC by ORW, Condom Outlet and Peer Educators • SMC Training for New Outlets and Peer Educators • Exposure visit for PE and Outlet • Setting up condom vending machines at Parkings COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Strategies • Form Sub- Committees under CBO Condom committee: Event committee: Visibility committee: STI treatment committee: Drop in center committee: Peer educators committee: • Involvement of trucking companies Activities • Forming sub-committees under CBO • Networking meetings with Government officials and NGOs • Honoring the active PEs and Outlets &Infotainment Program Outcome:  50000 truck driver and helpers reached for behavior change communication.  1600 STI cases treatment among truck drivers and helpers.  50000 pieces of condom promoted through social marketing.  40 condom outlets operational including already established ones.  100 peer educators trained and are active in the project activity.
